Manual

I broke down and sold my entire Olympus camera and lens collection.  My thinking was simple - I had a number of cameras and lenses that I did not expect to ever use again.  It didn't make sense to leave them sitting in a case in the closet when I could convert them to cash and purchase a lens that I would use.  And so I did...  This lens takes the place of half-a-dozen cameras, two motor drives, and ten lenses so I sure hope it performs!

In the past I have bought cameras and lenses that while first quality, were compromises in one way or another.  When I was contemplating this purchase I considered a couple other lenses that were slower or took a smaller filter, so I could leverage my existing filter.  In the end I decided to get the faster lens, in the latest design, and purchase the polarizing filter that I would need for the new size filter mount.  I am now looking around the house to see what I can pull together and sell to pay for the EF 70-200 2.8 L II IS USM...

The sample images at the top of the page were made with this lens on 3/14/2010.  There appears to be great potential for some nice landscapes from this lens!

Filter

The lens has a 82mm filter mount.  If there is only one filter to have, it must be the polarizing filter.  In 82mm size, the circular polarizer (required for this camera) is as expensive as some entry level digital cameras...
