Nikon to Canon EOS Lens Mount Adapters

I had already decided I would buy a Canon because there is a wide variety of successful lens mount adapters that make it possible to attach my Pentax M42 screw-mount, K-mount, and Olympus OM System lenses to a Canon digital SLR and achieve infinity focus.  The use of lens mount adapters for these lenses proved to be very successful.  When I found a great deal on a Zörk Panorama Shift Adapter (PSA) that had a Nikon mount, so I ordered this mount.  This PSA enables the use of my Hasselblad 80mm lens on my Canon with a shift function.

The lens adapter mount "industry", if it could be called that, has made some advancements.  When I first started looking, the adapters simply bridged the gap between the lenses I have and the bayonet mount of the camera.  They adapters were nothing more than flanges.  And worse, many were imprecise resulting in cases where infinity focus was not available.

Infinity focus is important because one needs to be able to take pictures of subjects in the distance as well as close-up.  If the adapter does not give infinity focus, the photography using it will be limited to close-working distances.  This is not a full solution and os impractical for my needs.

This adapter is very good. I have used adapters from various manufacturers for Pentax M42 & K mount, Olympus OM, and this by far is the most solid, well-made adapter I have seen.

The Zörk Panorama Shift Adapter (PSA) mounts securely to the adapter. The adapter mounts securely to the camera. There is no "slop" in the fit. The adapter stays locked to the lens (or in my case the PSA) so you can treat the lens just like any other Canon lens (with regard to mounting and unmounting).  Of course if you have several lenses this can become a costly approach.  To save money one can simply own a single adapter and swap it across lenses.  The quality of this adapter is such that it will work well and hold up to repeated coupling and uncoupling, something the cheap adapter is not known for...

As usual, one must focus manually (like photographers did for 100 years...) and set the exposure manually (though my Canon TTL meter works in AV and M modes allowing reasonable easy exposure setting).

As some have correctly pointed out, there are lenses that may be incompatible with your camera - best to research this before you purchase the adapter and especially, before you mount the lens and find out something "hits".

I am using this to mount a Zörk Panorama Shift Adapter (PSA)  to a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It works perfectly. Since this set-up is essentially an adapter-mounted-to-an-adapter-mounted-to-a-lens, the amount of "slop" could be multiplied. But because both adapters are high quality, the lens feels solidly mounted to the camera with no looseness - just what is needed for precise infinity-focus and a flat field aligning with the sensor.

The added bonus for me is that I can now share my PSA with my Nikon-toting friend, and he can share his Nikon lenses with me!

This item is well worth the price, and comes highly recommended!

I purchased and in four days received the adapter pictured.  In my case the Canon rear lens cap did not come with the adapter, but I had one already so lesson learned.  The free shipping from Amazon came at a cost of the missing part.  No big deal...
