Nikon states that the S·C-lens (from #250011) was its first lens ever with a multi-layer coating on all lens-to-air surfaces.

This lens has been adapted for use with Canon EOS mounts using the Fotodiox Pro Nikon F to Canon EOS mount.  I added a programmable chip to the mount to enable reporting of the focal length and aperture in the image EXIF data.

Production of this type started in 1972. The lens looks like type III but now bears the inscription Nikkor S·C, where the C stands for ‘coating’. This lens has an amber coating.

The entire lens has been assembled with slot screws. Serial numbers start with 250001 and the last recorded and factory confirmed serial number is 300556.
