When I
decided to buy the Canon 5D Mark II, I had the
choice of getting just the body, or to get it with a lens supplied at a
modest discount over the "sold-separately" lens price. I wanted to
save money so considered buying just the body with the plan of using my
Takumar lenses with an
adapter. But after thinking about it I realized I needed at
least one compatible lens so that I could explore the full capabilities
of the camera that would not be available to me with the Takumar lenses.
I chose this lens because it has a very good range of focal lengths - a
selection of angles-of-view from ultra-wide to short telephoto.
The lens
is very good and for many people could serve as the only lens for the
camera. As I purchased the camera to use with multiple lenses,
this lens provides a starting point and a good type of lens for a number
of situations.
I have been very please with the results produced
by this lens and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone as a near-perfect
"walk-around" lens.
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Lens (comes with camera at a slightly reduced price).
The 24~105mm lens provides a good range of focal lengths and
the system compatibility with the camera, enabling rapid, integrated
shooting.
