As a
way to evaluate the performance of Olympus OM System
lenses mounted on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II using a
3rd-party lens adapter, I made this series of
images. The images were made from the same
location, using a level tripod and camera.
This is not a scientific test - just a practical one
to see how well the lenses put an image on the
sensor. All images were made with the lens at
the smallest lens opening for that particular lens.
The last three outdoor images were made at a
different time using
Super-Multi-Coated Takumar
lenses with the
Canon EOS 5D Mark II and
3rd-party lens adapter. I have included these images because
they provide an interesting extension to the
comparison.
The
series show the difference in the image made by
changing focal length. Scientific conclusions
cannot be made about color because the camera
was set on auto-white balance, causing the camera to
make changes for each image, preventing a valid
assessment. Reasonable conclusions may be made
about sharpness though these images were sharpened
at the same time they were reduced in size for
presentation here.

on the main image page (click the image below to enlarge) will take you back to
the lens data page where may be seen a crop from the
original, full-sized file. From this may be
observed more useful examples of lens performance
during this shooting.
